HOWFENNY MWEENE MUNDIA PROVES CAREER CHANGES WORKS

INa world where farming is often seen as challenging, Fenny Mweene Mundia has carved out a unique path, blending livestock and crop production withcreativity and determination. Coming from Zambia’s Southern Province, Fenny isa registered nurse by profession and a farmer.

According to Fenny, what inspired her to venture into farming came after a challenging period in her career. She explained that after completing her nursing training in 2021, she began volunteering during the COVID-19 pandemic—a testament to her dedication and performance as a volunteer. Despite this, her experience was emotionally draining.

"Iwas initially appointed as the in-charge at the clinic I was volunteering from because I was the first among the volunteers. But over time, I was left outduring deployment. They would say, 'You can do this, you are young; there isstill time.' They had to prioritize others. It became frustrating anddisheartening for me," she bemoaned.

She added that during this period of professional disappointment, she began reflecting on her next steps: "I kept thinking, if they won't recognize my effort here, I will do something for myself—like poultry farming." Fenny stated that farming was familiar to her because her family had poultry houses and her mother used to keep chickens back in 2015.
