SERENJE FARMERS DEPOSIT OVER K7M INTO FISP ACCOUNT

FARMERS in Serenje district of Central province have deposited K7, 385,600 into the Farmer Input Support Program account, money meant for their farming input acquisition.  
Serenje District Agriculture Coordinator, Katumwa Mutandi confirmed the development to national agricultural information services in Serenje.


Mr Mutandi also revealed that over 17,000 farmers in serenje district of central province have so far redeemed their farming inputs under the farmer input support program.
He disclosed that Serenje has a FISP allocation of 19,097 beneficiaries out of which 17,617 farmers have so far redeemed their farming inputs in readiness for planting.
Mr. Mutandi also disclosed that 18,890 farmers were on the Authority to Deposit (ATD) while 18,664 have so far deposited their farmer contribution of K400 in the FISP account.
He has called on farmers to adopt best farming practices in a bid to increase production and productivity.


Mr Mutandi added that adhering to good agricultural practices remains significant because it helps farmers have increased yields and grow their income.
A spot check at agro dealer shops by this reporter, found farmers redeeming their farming inputs. –NAIS
