NCZ AND AFRISEED JOIN HANDS TO SUPPORT ZAMBIAN FARMERS

Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia Limited (NCZ) and Stewards Globe Limited, trading as Afriseed, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at improving farmers’ access to seed, fertilizer, crop protection products and technical support.

The partnership brings together NCZ’s expertise in fertilizer and crop nutrition with Afriseed’s strength in quality seed and crop protection.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, NCZ Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chanda M. Mongo said the partnership responds directly to feedback from farmers.

Mr. Mongo stated that the MoU is as a result of the study that NCZ conducted in 2025 which revealed that  87% of respondents wanted seeds available through NCZ outlets, 81% needed technical advice, while 89% called for practical product demonstrations.

“We heard you, and today, we are responding comprehensively to that call,” Mr. Mongo said.

Under the MOU, the two companies will leverage their distribution networks to bring agricultural inputs closer to farmers and explore bundled input solutions under the FISP E-Voucher programme and other government support schemes. This means that farmers can now buy fertilizer, seed and other input at a one stop shop.

The partnership will also support joint field demonstrations, farmer training, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable crop nutrition, while exploring opportunities in the COMESA and SADC markets.

Mr. Mongo further said:
“This is not just an agreement on paper; it is a commitment to integrated agricultural solutions that will drive sustainable growth.”

Speaking earlier, Afriseed CEO, Mrs. Stephanie Angomwile, said the partnership combines two important agricultural inputs.

“AFRISEED brings seed, while NCZ brings fertilizer. But for the farmer, these are not separate propositions.”

She added:
“The real measure of this partnership will not be today’s signing. It will be what we do after today.”

The signing was followed by a guided tour of NCZ’s production facilities.
